TEAM MANAGERS WANTED!

Have you ever stood on the sidelines and watched your team taking a crucial match to a draw in the dying seconds? And then, with sweaty hands and a beating heart, watched them start the penalty flick competition to find the decider? You just know it’s gonna go to the wire. You know you have the better goal keeper but the other team has players more experienced taking flicks...

Each team cheers when their team-mate scores, standing arm-in-arm around the circle.... You have forgotten to breathe, your entire world is in that semi-circle in front of the goal and you just know that you’ll need large quantities of tissues if it all goes wrong... But it doesn’t go wrong! Your goalie has just stopped one... Darn it! So has the other one...

It doesn’t actually matter if you end up winning or losing that game. You just know that you could have missed out on all of that. You could have been sitting at home watching television, doing the ironing, cooking dinner or anyone of the mundane things you do over the weekend!

But you’re not! No, you’re the Solent Juniors team manager of this particular team and you’re standing on the sideline with a beating heart and sweaty palms... You’re alive!

We know what it feels like. We’ve been doing it for a while! And yes, there are ups and downs, good times and bad times, long journeys, tears of happiness and tears of defeat. But at the end of it all, you will have made it possible for a great bunch of enthusiastic and dedicated kids to do what they do best and that is play hockey, have fun, meet new people, face personal challenges, win matches and gossip a lot! You can be proud of yourself!

COACHES WANTED

The Solent Juniors are growing every year. In years to come we want to develop the club by taking on more members and creating additional teams. What we need more than anything else are coaches and umpires.

So, if you’re 16 and over, enjoy hockey and want to make a real difference, why not come and talk to us about a future as a hockey coach.

We’ll get you started with your Level 1 Coaching Qualification which will allow you to coach under the supervision of a Level 2 coach and after that, the sky is the limit!

UMPIRES WANTED

After the players, the umpire is the most important person on the pitch! (OK, he or she is the only other person on the pitch but let’s not split hairs!) Every team has to provide its own umpire and without one, the game can’t go ahead. So, if you’re a young player who’s always wanted to learn how to be an umpire or if you’re an experienced and seasoned (or even retired) hockey player and you want to be part of this exciting junior club, let us hear from you. We’ll get you started with your Level 1 training and qualification through the HHUA (Hampshire Hockey Umpire Association) and as much practical experience as you can handle!
